A home gym is a great way to get a workout in without having to deal with the crowds at a traditional gym. However, in order to get the most out of your home gym, you need to have the right equipment and accessories.
There are a few essential pieces of equipment that every home gym should have, such as a good set of dumbbells, a weight bench, and a squat rack. In addition to these essential pieces, there are a number of other accessories that can make your workout more effective and enjoyable.

FIRST, it is a great idea to have a foam roller/massager.  We tried out “The Original Worm,” which is a small full body massage roller that combines the benefits of therapy balls with a foam roller. The Worm’s specially designed (4) neoprene encased, solid rubber massage balls target 4x the body’s surface area. These massage roller balls will provide trigger point release to combat stiffness, pain and stress in muscles and joints.  An easy to use, easy to carry, self massage tool.

The Original Worm is the portable, full body massage roller that combines the benefits of therapy balls with a foam roller. Great to massage neck pain, back pain, foot pain, plantar fasciitis, IT band, glutes, calves. Use for travel.

No home gym is complete without actual equipment.  Lately, I am 110% all for this brand: DMoose.  They make everything but here are some of my favorites right now that I think are essential to consider adding to any home gym setup:

DMoose Olympic Barbell Clips – 2 Inch or 1 Inch Pair

DMoose Weight Lifting Hooks (Pair), Hand Grip Support Wrist Straps

DMoose Dip Belt

I don’t know about you but I use a home pull-up bar, and like various fear-less P90X moves (like push-ups etc.).  Eventually you need to add some resistance but this isn’t easy.  The Dip Belt above helps but sometimes I want more. Even if you’re not into these moves – weighted clothing is super cool and good way to add some light resistance to your movements.   We like OMORPHO.  Running, hiking, studio workouts and skill training. Wear it to any workout that moves your upper body, from the boxing gym and yoga studio to the batting cages and trail.

Speaking of the the trail, hiking is counts as part of your home workout.  Or maybe you’re into running or plyometrics.   The right shoes go a long way.  I recently tried out a brand named KURU for all genders.   Their shoes  are engineered with triple-layer support which supports the foot in all the right places, helping to relieve plantar fasciitis pain and hopefully prevent injury. They have some really innovative shoe options.  Here are the R4RR favorites for:

The QUEST Hiking Boot.

What is a Thai Moon Knife?

Thai Moon Knife

I recently discovered a super knife called the Thai Moon Knife.  I originally was going to try to use one to butcher a whole turkey (and still might) but realized that regular knives aren’t great for cutting tropical fruit either.   If you’ve ever had to slice the ends off a pineapple you know what I mean.  Or even a papaya which is relatively soft skin-wise ends up spewing seeds when trying to use an everyday knife to cut it.

I know what you’re thinking . .  “I use everyday knives all the time and they’re fine.”  Yes, they’re fine – but a super power knife really ups your game.   A moon knife can cut through bone and really is best suited for butchering meat.  I am going to try it on a pork loin soon as well, so stay tuned and keep coming back!

In the meantime, let’s see how a moon knife from Thailand fares on fruit and find out how easy/difficult it is to use.  I got this knife from Verve Culture.  Let’s dive in and see:
