How to Travel Post-Pandemic

I don’t know about you, but I actually want to never get on an airplane another day in my life.  I don’t miss it AT ALL.  Road trips on the other hand? ….

Obviously, not flying forever isn’t going to be an option.  We can’t exactly drive from South America to Asia  – – – or can we?  Looking at you, Elon Musk: stop tyring to send us to space when we know you can just as easily invent teleportation or a magic road between continents.

Anyway,  until teleportation happens or someone forces me to get on a plane with all the crazy people having nervous breakdowns for no good reason whatsoever – I will be driving, and I think many a Red Carpet reader likes the idea of a weekend getaway by car as well.

So how do we do it?  Well, for starters:

  1. PICK A PLACE LESS THAN 6 HRS AWAY

6 hrs. is actually a brutal drive if you think about it, you’re essentially losing a day.  My ideal is 3.  3 hrs let’s you stop at every ridiculous thing you can think of from Mark Twain’s house to sculputre gardens to giant rubber band balls to tall rock formations named after the devil to giant Superman statues to a goat tower (yeah, it’s a tower with goats on it – in somebody’s yard.  It rocks).  That 3 hrs turns into a nice fun 5 hrs easily.   But you get to drive back in peace as well without rushing out early in the morning.  You can check out when you’re supposed to check out.  Which brings us to the next point:

2.  AIRBNB or VRBO vs. HOTEL

Hotels probably do a better job keeping things clean and sanitized BUT given the Great Resignation’s labor shortage there are probably a lot of people who hate their job right now becaue they’re doing the job of 10 people for the same pay and getting yelled at all day by the very rude crazies that have nervious breakdowns on airplanes, and in stores, etc.  AirBnB’s on the other hand? A homeowner.   We’ve had some great experiences with AirBnB and VRBO.  get yourself a whole  house and Rock I for the weekend!  and because you’re only a few hrs away, you an enjoy the last day and leave right at checkout time.

3. PACK LIGHT

This is key.  I like to use this  Weekend Royalty Bag (pictured below), and yes, monogrammed ;).  You might as well road trip in style.   You can get one for yourself (or as a gift for someone else ) HERE from Groovy Gifts.

4. IN-FLIGHT ACCESSORIES

I am all about the MEE audio Connect Air in-Flight Bluetooth Wireless Audio Transmitter   – the headphones provided for in flight entertainment systems on longer flights are not great at all.  You do have the option on some flights of streaming content through your phone or tablet, but why have those out if you don’t need to?  This device (which you can get @  https://amzn.to/46dndo6  ) lets you stream audio from any 3.5mm jack to up to two Bluetooth headphones.   Total gamechanger.

Aside from the obvious benefits of travelling light, is that you can fill up the available space in the car with FOOD! Restaurants tend to suck on the road.  In fact, restaurants are another thing I didn’t realize I could  happily live without post-pandemic,  I know it is taboo to say, but I am totally OK with never eating out again too! Especially since some of the top chefs in the country showed me how to make their signature dishes on the Rock Star Recipes Show: https://smarturl.it/rrrshow

A giant cooler full of your favorite groceries and snacks and drink will make the drive as well as the whole weekend super fun and more carefree.

So time to caim a little freedom and get out on the open road in style!
