Winter Fashion Update – How to Keep your Feet Dry this Winter

Winter is coming. And the worst part of winter isn’t necessarily the cold. Let’s face it, warm hot chocolate while being romantically snuggled up on a sheep skin rug next to a fire is the sort of winter image that makes the cold ALL GOOD. But there are some practical winter concerns.

I previously had never heard of a condition called “Trench Foot” until I read about it on the Cozy Winters site. According to google, Trench foot is “a painful condition of the feet caused by long immersion in cold water or mud and marked by blackening and death of surface tissue.” WHAT?? To be fair, as Cozy Winters educates us on the topic, Trench Foot can affect anyone who works in and around water, “including loggers, fishermen, and sewer inspectors, as well as soldiers, sailors, and Coast Guard personnel.”

This got me thinking about everyone sloshing around in those wet boots all winter. What if you can’t readily get to a place where you can kick them off and snuggle up with hot chocolate by the aforementioned fireplace? I’m sure battery heated socks, rechargeable heated socks, foot warmers, and boot dryers work but for sure you would want those to be fast drying.

Cozy Winters suggest that we change into clean, dry shoes and socks as frequently as possible during the work shift,  wear special waterproof sock liners to keep feet dry,  sprinkle talcum powder on feet, toes, and the insides of shoes or boots, rotate between two or more pairs of work shoes or boots to ensure starting the shift with dry footwear, and wash and dry feet thoroughly after work.

But honestly, I really like the idea of battery heated socks. There is even a pair that has bluetooth!

OK, now I know you’re thinking, Trench Foot might be a little drastic of a worry. But what about chillblains?? Chillblains are horrible. So if you have cold/wet foot trouble in the winter let us know! We will get into reviewing some of these heated socks options!
