FOX’s STAR Fails – Undoes Any Racial Progress Achieved by EMPIRE
FOX’s new Empire spin STAR follows an indigent girl’s rise to fame. Within the first few minutes of the show, you could FEEL everyone in the room think to themselves “Do we really need to celebrate MORE white people on TV?” And it’s tough to admit, but I instantly thought the same thing. Yes, we get to see a white girl have it all. As if we can’t look out our windows to see that😉. I know that sentiment may sound racist, but you have to understand – what made EMPIRE so great to watch is that the characters were (read: FINALLY were) relatable.
But FOX, like the rest of Hollywood, has decided we don’t matter – or at least that is the impression we get. Not that the “you’re not quite right because you’re not white” message isn’t one we haven’t heard every day for our entire lives, it’s just that subconsciously

Zoe Saldana Moving Away From her Action Image with “Live By Night”
When I first heard that Zoe Saldana was moving away from “Action” blockbusters I thought to myself “Zoe’s an Action star?”
But then I realized that she has had a year full of
mega blockbuster action roles! It’s not that she hasn’t done drama before, it’s that her action roles have been ultra A-list and her recent dramatic roles (like “Nina”) flew under the radar or didn’t get the positive reviews that she deserves.
But here comes another period piece, Ben Affleck’s “Live by Night.” Simply having Affleck involved will lend this movie some clout. “One of my goals is to always keep growing,” says Zoe. “In the last 10 years I’ve been mastering the roles of action-driven superheroes and films that are more in the science fiction genre, so this was a step forward in terms of me trying to continue evolving as an artist.”
This movie is set to open this coming weekend, and Zoe is playing a Cuban immigrant named Graciella Corrales in the middle of an illegal liquor distribution ring in Florida. Interesting! Latinos will be undoubtedly upset that they don’t cast Cubans to play Cubans but given the choice of A-listers out there she really does seem to be the best fit for such a role. Sadly, I’m probably going to have to watch her make out with Affleck *cringe!!!* but that’s My problem. And maybe Bradley Cooper’s (although he might be into that kind of thing).

He really believed in me that I could pull this off,” she said. “It’s not every day you find a director that really, really believes in you enough so that you can believe in yourself.” *** ugh, I can picture them kissing right now***
But if you’re not a fan of dramas, don’t worry – Zoe Saldana’s role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is up for the watching, and I hear there are A LOT of Avatar sequels in the mix.

” What do you use to dry your hair? I hate having wet hair after showers, and hair dryer damages hair a lot.?”
This is a great question. Because I HAAAAATE having wet hair after showers too. And hair dryers are the worst. I almost NEVER use a hair dryer on my hair. Occasionally a stylist insists on using a hair dryer on me, and I won’t have time to argue with them before I have to go on camera so I suck it up. But at home, and when I get my say on how my hair is done, NO DRYERS!
So the question? WHAT TO DO?
